Born in Los Angeles, California, Noel Cheney grew up in beautiful Winterthur, Switzerland. She had the great fortune of growing up in a household where art was an integral part of her life – her mother being a multi-talented craft artist. Noel’s fascination with the jewelry industry began early on, collecting stones as a child, and deepened after spending several summers in her early twenties apprenticing at a jeweler and lapidary cutter in Idar-Oberstein, Germany.

After returning from an inspirational year-long trip around the world – taking her from Switzerland through Asia, Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Fidji, French Polynesia, the Easter Island and South America – she realized that the time was right to embark on her true calling. In 1994 Noel moved to the United States to pursue her studies at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) where she graduated in 1995 and then joined the GIA staff. Continuing her career in the jewelry industry, she also worked in a retail store, honing her skills in retail and design, and in 1997 moved to New York to work for Jewelers of America (JA). In 2000 Noel relocated back to California and became the Executive Director of the California Jewelers Association (CJA). Following in the footsteps of many of her CJA member retailer and designer friends she finally branched out on her own in 2003 and launched NOEL Fine Jewelry.
I work with private clients as a creative consultant and production manager of antique, estate, and modern jewelry.  I help small businesses and boutiques with production, styling, and curating of their jewelry collections.

I was raised with art and antiques all around me.  My mother was a dealer so the smell of an antique store still feels like home.  Following in the family footprint, I received my BA in Art History from Florida State University.  All the while New York City was calling, and I moved to the Big Apple to pursue fine and decorative arts appraisal at New York University.  While working towards my appraisal certification, I started my career with one of the top appraisal firms in the city, Abigail Hartmann Associates.  It was there I decided to pursue my life-long love of antique and estate Jewelry and dual-enrolled at The Gemological Institute of America.  Upon finishing my schooling, I worked for Heritage Auctions in their New York City location as a Junior Jewelry Specialist, working closely with the Luxury Goods department.  With Heritage, I toured the country with their bi-annual Jewelry Sales.  Recently, I worked as the Jewelry Director at Stone Fox Bride curating their inaugural jewelry collection and assisting brides with their pre-wedding jewelry needs.
Currently I am working with LoveGold as a jewelry consultant and content contributor.

I am bi-coastal, working in New York and Los Angeles.  I can assist with fine and decorative arts and collection management as well as jewelry.  I have worked with clients all over the country as well as in England and Belgium.
